version of the Debian package based on the upstream version. [...]

In any case, the upstream source did not change a bit in between
uploads of those two debian_version.

Also, I don't know what triggered this, if it was the py3 change or
the vtk change (most likely).

So my point was simply to remove this potential confusion. That is all.

Which binaries ? Those build from src:gdcm ?
