Is there any update on this? Ideally I would like to see spdlog 1.9 + fmtlib
8.x in the upcoming Ubuntu 22.04 LTS, and we will need more tests before
pushing the new version on both side.

I am wondering if you have time in the near future to prepare a spdlog 1.9.x
upload into Debian experimental. If you find it ok, I can try to prepare a
version into experimental as NMU so that we can proceed with more testing on
new version's compatibility.
