The Javascript team migrated the JS namespace of installing packages from /usr/lib to /usr/share after buster release, if I remember correctly.
So yes, you're right. Reverting the commit will do the trick most likely.

For backporting: simply building on a buster schroot and uploading to buster-backports would work. (Provided that the uploaders is listed on backports.d.o ACL)
