That's correct and the actual issue was rather in blends-dev (for all Blends).
Thus I've uploaded blends-dev 0.7.5 containing your suggested fix and have set

    Build-Depends-Indep: blends-dev (>= 0.7.5~)

in debian-med.  This will be fixed after the next upload of the debian-med
package.  Since I've just uploaded a new package version I would prefer to
wait a bit with the next upload ... except if you would say that the issue
is pretty boring and a show stopper for one of your applications.
