thanks a lot for the bug report and the patch.  I accepted the MR.  I
intended to update the package at the same time to latest upstream but
this failed building.  As always in this cases I need to trust the
Java insight of Pierre - thus the upload will be done once Pierre found
the time he needs to decide whether it is sensible to work on the new
ustream version or for the moment to the old one to get this bug fixed
quickly.

@Pierre: I've created branch 2.17.3 incorporating a few easy patch
refreshes for the new version.  I did not used master branch since I
have no idea how hard this would be:

   Compiling with JDK Java compiler API.
