Unless I've missed something, there should be no need for any porting
here, just a small build system change, either to stop building
PCRE-based binaries (which weren't getting installed anyway) or to
switch back to building them against a preexisting convenience copy.
(The binaries in question are just renamed upstream PCRE demos and
tests.)

I've been busy with real life lately, but will upload a fix when I get a
chance, probably over the weekend.  Sorry for the noise about slated
autoremovals, meanwhile.
