I would recommend a comment in the code telling what the baseline is. 
Like `NeuroDebian aims at supporting oldoldstable` as an example or `... 
the latest two Ubuntu-LTSes`, or `NeuroDebian's policy on this matter is 
at <URL>`, so a code reviewer can validate that the level is correct or 
can be bumped.

At the moment, it seems to be knowledge in your head, which limits the 
"bus factor" of keeping the code up to date. :)
