I recently closed #1091563, and it seems that I missed #1091047
in the process, which in all likelyhood would be another
manifestation of the same issue of parallelism in make, made
manifest with the recent upload of make 4.4.

I'm closing this bug as this should be fixed with my changes
from last Sunday.  Sorry, this ought to have been present in my
changelog if I hadn't fogotten to add this bug.
