Hello,
Bug #1072346 in sortmerna reported by you has been fixed in the
Git repository and is awaiting an upload. You can see the commit
message below and you can check the diff of the fix at:
https://salsa.debian.org/med-team/sortmerna/-/commit/ac280c2d10ca081b6dda60f8063c691e4dd59403

d/tests: run the binary end-to-end against the upstream test data
Replace the disabled, indexdb_rna-based checks with real invocations of
the packaged sortmerna binary: the upstream tiny and small data sets are
aligned and compared byte-for-byte with the golden FASTA, SAM and BLAST
outputs, and a gzip-compressed reads file exercises the rapidarchive
decompression path. This allows dropping the superficial restriction.
Closes: #1072346
