Package: oscar
Version: 2.1.0-1
Severity: normal
Tags: upstream

Hi,

Thanks for maintaining this usuful software.

Since the last version (that didn’t happen before), OSCAR added a
feature to check the availability of a new version. This is not useful
in a Debian context and is actually a breach of privacy.

Please, do patch away this feature.

I caught it with my firewall, but I believe the relevant input in the
log was the following line.

> Debug: Starting network request for "http://apneaboard.net/OSCAR/versions.xml"

Regards,

taffit
