Could you please double check that 
https://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=1016146 does not occur 
this line removed. Should just be a matter of entering the password on 
the steam deck with the USB keyboard and making sure your password 
doesn't appear on screen after osk-sdl closes.

With that one confirmed, this should be an easy fix.
