please find the details of the issue and related investigation at [1].
Looking at the short list of commits both upstream [2] and in Debian
packaging [3], I will try to analyze this further to find out what
exactly broke this, nevertheless I'm reporting this bug in the hope
the maintainer already got a feeling what could be broken... ;)
