Hi everyone,
I am a developer of a fairly new project called EngLab. It is intended
to be a mathematical platform / programming language such as Matlab
and Octave but *not* a Matlab clone. It has a C like syntax, native
support for many data types, allows variable declarations and has a
interface for external functions written in C++. (If you would like
more info please visit our site at http://englab.org.)
The reason i am writing this e-mail is not to advertise our project,
but to give a bump to the upload of the Debian packages to the
unstable branch. As a development team we have decided that at our
current status (pre-beta) we should try to integrate as much possible
with existing systems and distributions, in order to get user
feedback. We consider Debian an important achievement towards this
goal since:
* Debian has a lot of users that will help us bug tracking
* It supports a lot of architectures. (*Very* important since our
datatypes are architecture dependent)
* We are going to follow the stable/testing release scheme as Debian does.
Therefore we have created Debian packages in hope to enter the
official Debian repository. In the meanwhile we have created our own
un-official repository to help our Debian users install our software.
But our RFS on the Debian mentors mailing list has gone by unnoticed
for months, since our software is quite specialized. Tracking down a
thread named: "No sponsor for weeks, now what?" on that list we found
out that it is advised to post on a team mailing list when you are
seeking sponsor for a specialized program. I am posting on this
mailing list hoping to find a sponsor for our packages. Currently I
have uploaded only one package to Debian mentors repository libenglab,
which is a required library for our entire suite.
The original RFS:
Dear mentors,
I am looking for a sponsor for my package "libenglab0.2".
* Package name : libenglab0.2
Version : 0.2.4-1
Upstream Author : BugFest Team
* URL : http://englab.org
* License : GPLv2
Section : libs
It builds these binary packages:
englab-utils - mathematical platform with a C like syntax (run-time utilities)
libenglab0.2 - mathematical platform with a C like syntax (run-time library)
libenglab0.2-dev - mathematical platform with a C like syntax
(development files)
The package appears to be lintian clean.
The package can be found on mentors.debian.net:
- URL: http://mentors.debian.net/debian/pool/main/l/libenglab0.2
- Source repository: deb-src http://mentors.debian.net/debian unstable
main contrib
non-free
- dget
http://mentors.debian.net/debian/pool/main/l/libenglab0.2/libenglab0.2_0.2.4-1.dsc
I would be glad if someone uploaded this package for me.
Kind regards
Harry Serenis
