Bug#555653: mpi-defaults: Please change LAM to MPICH2

Package: mpi-defaults
Severity: normal

Reminder for myself (and others):

As discussed on the Debian Science mailing list, LAM should be made
obsolete in the near future. To ease the transistion, the default MPI
implementation on architectures not supported by Open MPI should be
moved from LAM to MPICH2, as MPICH2 is now available in Sid and also
actively maintained. This would allow to get rid of LAM in the long run.

Beware that all packages B-D'ing on mpi-default-dev need to be rebuild.
This needs to be coordinated with the release team.

Best regards
Manuel
