Hello Kingsley,

Pierre, the upstream author of bibus, replied to my mail (see below).
In short:
  * The proposed solution does not seem to be a clean one.
  * Could you please cross-check, that you use bibus correctly, i.e.
when you finalize, you save the resulting document under a *new*
filename - neither the original one nor "private:stream". So, do not use
the "Save"-button, but use "Save As..." instead.

Does the last comment "fix" your problem, or should we dig deeper?

Best Regards,
Jan

This is unfortunately a bad fix.
The proposed fix will replace the open OOo document and you will thus
lose your unfinalized work.

'private:stream' is working. The problem is usually a bad use.
The problem is that the document is named 'private:stream' and some
people try just to hit the "save" command. This will result in a crash.
Instead you must chose "Save as" and give a new name.
I never succeeded in finding a way to inactivate the save button
unfortunately.

The name 'private:stream' is due to a OOo mechanism to create a document
without saving it to the disk.
A possibility would be to save the doc in a temporary file, but again we
will get problems since many people will hit the save button and will
never find their document since it will be located in some temporary
directory.

I never found a good solution to this problem. I also never reproduced
the errors reported by others.
You can have a look at the following topic
https://sourceforge.net/projects/bibus-biblio/forums/forum/380178/topic/3532542/index/page/2

You will see that after a lot of discussion, the user finally realized
that he was not using bibus correctly.

Pierre
