I agree that this is important, and I really want it, though it's a
feature request.

That said, I would really like to try to make it happen.  I've begun a
patch to the NETGENPLUGIN module to use the new nglib interface of the
NETGEN library in Debian.  But I'm having a hard time with it.

I did notice that Salomé upstream posted to the NETGEN forum several
months ago (I think April) indicating that they are encouraged to see
the new interface and want to work with it.  So I would like to learn
more about upstream's plans in this regard before spending additional
time on it.

André, do you know anything about this?

I hope you don't mind the lower bug priority, be assured that I am
working on the issue and want to make it work.  Also, you can go to
http://lyre.mit.edu/~powell/salome/ to get 5.1.3-11 which has a number
of packaging improvements.
