At some point I'm considering switching PETSc to a more traditional
-dev/-dbg format, with just the optimized libraries in -dev and the lib
package, and only debugging symbols in -dbg, instead of the complete
un-stripped debugging libraries in -dbg as it has today. This would cut
the build time in half, and reduce the total size of the binary packages
by about 40%.
Will that change satisfy your needs, or would you rather have the full
unstripped debugging shared library -- which would increase the binary
packages size by about 20-30%?
