This renders the whole package mostly unusable on debian. A solution
patch (as used in gdcm) is:

cat d/rules:
[...]
  sed -i -e "s/FATAL_ERROR/STATUS/g"
Build/Utilities/LastConfigureStep/CMakeFiles/Export/lib/vtk-5.8/VTKTargets.cmake
