Bug#728480: ipe: calls gedit (hard-coded choice of text editor?)

Package: ipe
Version: 7.1.3-1
Severity: normal

Hello again!

I noticed that, if I open the stylesheet dialog (selecting Style sheets
from the Edit menu) and try to edit one stylesheet, nothing happens,
except for the following error showing up in the terminal:

sh: gedit: command not found

As you have probably guessed, I don't have gedit installed!

$ aptitude search gedit | awk '$2 == "gedit" { print }'
p gedit - official text editor of the GNOME desktop

I wonder why ipe tries to start gedit: is it a hard-coded choice
of text editor inside ipe?!?
I think ipe should attempt to start the user's preferred text editor,
maybe with a Debian-specific patch that makes it launch
/usr/bin/editor inside a /usr/bin/x-terminal-emulator ...

Please let me know what you think about it.
This bug should be fixed, as it apparently makes it impossible to
edit style sheets from within ipe.

Thanks for your time!
