Bug#728988: downgrading libpacklib does not help

Today I used debian-snapshot to downgrade libpacklib and all the
cernlib-derived packages to the following version from 2010

http://snapshot.debian.org/package/cernlib/2006.dfsg.2-14.1/

I'm sure CERNLIB worked on my machine at that time. That did not solve
the problem.

I also tried compiling my test program with gfortran-4.4. That did not
solve the problem, either.

Maybe libpacklib was broken by a libgfortran upgrade?
