Works for me with the following makefiles:

BOARD_TAG         = mega2560
MONITOR_PORT      = /dev/ttyACM0
include /usr/share/arduino/Arduino.mk

or

BOARD_TAG          = atmega328bb
ISP_PROG     	   = usbasp
include /usr/share/arduino/Arduino.mk
