How could this possibly be 'wishlist'. The libvtk6 is simply a
collection of random lib without any clear definition. There are
python, java and Tcl binding within it. It is *impossible* to have a
clear ABI since those are even linked to python directly (use
python2.7 API).

Obviously marking the bug as wishlist wont make *any* one provide
patch for it. What are you trying to do, force a quick transition to
vtk6 or have a decent package for your *users*.

strictly speaking yes, but as maintainer you could at least
acknowledge that it will make any transition or rebuild an enormous
amount of effort. Fixing this issue *before* the vtk6 transition would
make it painless...
