Unfortunately, I have no time to work on vmtk at the moment.

There is some information about this in the "Disclaimer" in
debian/copyright. The reason is because it included Tetgen, which was
in non-free. It looks like Tetgen is now in main, so maybe the latest
vmtk release also can go into main.
