Hello,

lammps uses

NUMJOBS = $(patsubst parallel=%,%,$(filter parallel=%,$(DEB_BUILD_OPTIONS)))

Which is thus empty when DEB_BUILD_OPTIONS does not contain parallel=,
and thus passes -j to make, putting any machine trying to build lammps
on it knees, trying to compile several dozens of c++ files at the same
time...
