Thanks for your note!

Although that particular commit doesn't apply to the current upstream 
version, it prompted me to do some digging.  This bug has been fixed 
upstream [1] based on a patch from Arch [2].

I've applied the patch in git [3] and prepared a new Debian version.

I'm CC'ing the Sage list -- would anyone be able to sponsor?
