Package: nlopt
Version: 2.4.2+dfsg-8
Hi.
2.4.2 is from 2014. There is a new release, 2.5.0, upstream,
at https://github.com/stevengj/nlopt
That's from July 2018. Looking at the commits since then, I think it
likely that upstream git master is going to be a better idea.
I had a quick look at this task. Upstream switched from autoconf to
cmake. Lookingn at the existing rules file, I felt that I wasn't up
up to it (at least with the effort I have available right now).
At least, I can say that an experimental git-debrebase demonstrated
that none of the patches are applicable any more. I'm pretty sure
they can all be dropped.
I'm filing this with normal severity rather than wishlist because of
the very substantial age of the current package. Feel free to
downgrade as you like. Also, apologies for the timing of this wrt the
buster freeze. I only just discovered nlopt, and this package.
Regards,
Ian.
