Package: qiskit-terra
Severity: wishlist
Dear Maintainer,
a new upstream version (0.8.2 for qiskit-terra [1]) is available, which
would be great to package in order to take advantage of the new features.
Please note as that along with the 0.7.0 upstream release [2], the
initial "qiskit" package was renamed to "qiskit-terra" and split into
different components, each of them resulting in a pip-installable
package in separate upstream repositories (plus a parent "qiskit"
package [3] that includes them as dependencies).
In order to keep the debian packages in sync with upstream, a proposal
would be to:
* keep this debian package as the package for the "qiskit-terra"
upstream component (dropping the current binaries and instead producing
"python3-qiskit-terra").
* gradually package the rest of the components in new debian packages
(for example, the current binary "qasm-simulator-cpp" is superseeded by
"qiskit-aer").
* conclude by creating another package that mimics the "qiskit" upstream
dependency package and produces also the documentation.
Best,
