Hello all,
You are receiving this email because some of the packages you maintain in
Debian depend on or recommend ksh, the Korn shell.
The recent development of ksh happens on https://github.com/att/ast and a new
beta release (2020.0.0-beta1) is now available. Since the current version in
Debian is still based on old codebase dated back in 2012, I'm considering to
make some updates and push the new release in Debian 11 (Bullseye). The change
of the new version would be significant, including the use of new buildsystem
(meson) as well as introducing non-backward compatible changes.
Currently you can find the new version of ksh packages in Debian experimental.
Since some of your packages may depends on ksh to be functional, you are
invited to test your packages against the new ksh and report any bugs and
regressions through Debian BTS. Since I'm personally new really familiar with
ksh (I don't use ksh often; ksh in Debian has been orphaned), any help in
maintaining ksh for Debian would also be appreciated. If no regression was
found, I may upload the new version onto Sid before 2020.
Please feel free to let me know if you have any issues or concerns.
Regards,
Boyuan Yang
