This is a strange new error to be sure.
I suspect it's related to the SLEPc upgrade, there seem to be some
inconsistencies in the new slepc configuration.  I'm looking into it.

If it's not slepc, then it might be some new behaviour from an openmpi
upgrade.  But my first guess is slepc, especially since it's the
eigenvalue test which is failing (SLEPc computes eigenvalues)
