Control: retitle -1 may crash or give wrong answer on armel and mips64el

On 0.13.1+dfsg-4, the mips64el crash went away and the armel crash came 
back, in the same test it had been in in 0.11.  Given the small amount 
of changes, I suspect the underlying bugs are both still there and 
whether they cause a crash, a wrong answer, or nothing depends 
pseudorandomly on other code.  (Not per-run, since they do seem to be 
consistent across retries of the same version.)
