Bug#1050176: pytables: FTBFS with 'nocheck' enabled

Hi Maintainer

As can be seen in recent build failures on m68k [1] and sh4 [2],
pytables now FTBFS with 'nocheck' enabled.  I've copied what I hope is
the relevant part of the log below.
