libgtkdatabox for GTK2

Hello maintainers,

I'm having trouble migrating a test machine from bullseye to bookworm 
because some of my (locally built) applications require the GTK2 version 
of libgtkdatabox. I note that the package in bookworm has been simply 
bumped from V0.9.3.1 to V1.0.0 of the upstream. Unfortunately this 
version bump also changes the library from a GTK2 library to a GTK3 library.

Would it be possible to split these so that both the GTK2 and GTK3 
versions are available?
