As of version 5, OpenMPI no longer supports 32-bit systems. The upcoming mpi-defaults transition will reflect this, making MPICH the default on these systems.

Vtk9 depends on libhdf5-openmpi-dev which will no longer ship on 32-bit systems. Please build-dep on libhdf5-mpi-dev instead.
