This usually happens if LaunchMinimized is set to "true" in
~/.config/artha.conf.  Ctrl+Alt+w should make the main window appear,
unless the hotkey is set to something different.

Setting it to "false" by editing the configuration file or by selecting
"Show Artha's window on launch" from the Options window will make the
main window appear at startup.  It looks like this is a feature,
e.g. you can autostart the program in your DE/WM and bring the window
only when you have to lookup a word.
