Hi Giacomo,
can you copy the part that starts with "any idea to create a version of petsc" into a new bug report for src:petsc?
I think what you are saying totally makes sense, but it would be good to properly keep track of it as a reminder for the TODO list.
We will be starting with petsc 3.22 in a few weeks, so that may be a good time to have a try in adding --with-64-bit-blas-indices.
We would have to double check if that requires us to change something in the blas-related package as well, or if the change is limited to petsc only.
Cheers,
Francesco

Thanks a lot Francesco! I had indeed looked into debian incoming, before
filing the bug report, but there was nothing yet either there or in
experimental.
I take the chance to ask: any idea to create a version of petsc (and in case
slepc) libraries compiled with the --with-64-bit-blas-indices option? I have
codes that use simultaneously slepc/petsc _and_ lapack/blas, the latter
being the version with 64-bit integer indices. To link them simultaneously
in the same code, petsc and slepc also need to use the same lapack/blas
libraries, i.e. with 64-bit integer indices. I have been compiling my
private versions of slepc and petsc for these uses, but it would be indeed
nice to be able to have them available as debian packages. The "64" versions
of petsc and slepc, as far as I know, are compiled with the --with-64-bit-indices
option set, not --with-64-bit-blas-indices (which is not the same thing).
Thanks for all the great work, best regards
Giacomo
P.S. in the meanwhile the fixed petsc libs made it to the archive and I
successfully upgraded all the packages I had to hold back. Thanks!
