Thanks for your patch.
However, it declares that alpha has so-called “DYNAMIC_ARCH” selection,
and at the same time it enforces a TARGET. This is inconsistent, it is
one or the other, but it can’t be both.
My understanding is that there is no DYNAMIC_ARCH support for alpha, so
it should be removed from that line.
Since there is no DYNAMIC_ARCH, TARGET should be used to specify the
specific CPU for which the library will be compiled. It should
correspond to the Debian baseline. EV4, EV5 and EV6 are the possible
choices, and you set it to EV5, so it implicitly means that EV4 chips
are not supported by Debian.
