Jeffrey, our porterbox is indeed Aarch64, providing an armhf chroot
that I can test on. The armhf chroot environment does report

(sid_armhf-dchroot)$ uname -a
Linux amdahl 6.12.73+deb13-arm64 #1 SMP Debian 6.12.73-1 (2026-02-17) armv8l GNU/Linux


The porterbox confirms xsimd does build successfully on our armhf
(i.e. armv8l) with -march=armv7-a+fp
