Version: 0.8.1+dfsg1-9
Severity: normal
Hi,
Starting with ifcopenshell version 0.8.1+dfsg1-9, the package use
guess-concurrency to limit parallel workers, which is a good move.
However on all build daemons which currently have build it, it also has
significantly increased the build time. Therefore it seems that the
current value of 8G is not optimal:
- 8G seems quite high, have you actually measured it? From a quick look
on the loong64 build, i never spotted it taking more than 3G
- Hardware or VMs usually use an integer value in G for the RAM (and
often a power of 2). There is always a bit of RAM lost (kernel code or
data, reserved memory, ...) and this is enough to get just below the
8G per core. For example on a host with 32G of memory, this limits the
number of jobs to 3.
Regards
Aurelien
