Dear Maintainer,
tango currently depends of mariadb-server for its starter-basic test in
d/t/control. However, the package builds against default-libmysqlclient-dev and
tango-db recommends default-mysql-client, which translate to libmariadb-dev-
compat and mariadb-client-compat respectively. The test dependency should be
updated to match the use of mariadb compat packages. This will allow the test
to succeed against mariadb 1:11.8.9+ds-4.
Also, as we are moving away from default-mysql-* packages in Forky
(https://lists.debian.org/debian-devel/2026/05/msg00161.html) I would recommend
moving uses of default-mysql-* in general to mariadb compat | mysql. I've
prepared a merge request that handles both updates (https://salsa.debian.org/science-team/tango/-/merge_requests/6).
Thanks,
Lena
