I noticed that singular isn't migrating in Ubuntu because of s390x qepcad
autopkgtests [1], and so I investigated it a bit further on an s390x porterbox.
It turns out that singular was throwing "undefined" errors when
referencing any variables!

I reported the issue upstream [2], and fortunately they fixed it very quickly.
I've adapted the fix into a quilt patch and opened a merge request [3]. Would
you consider including this in your next upload?

Thanks!
Doug
