Please put things in context:
Sage was then compared to Debian: from a Debian of view, Sage is only a package;
and Debian itself is a distribution as RedHat is.

Can it run a computer ?

 It's not something

I really do not think that the `drawback' is a consequence of what you described before.
Keeping _stable_ version detached from the ``outside world'' is separate choice.

 That's definitely a bad

This bad aspect is just a bad behaviour. A small delay will not hurt, on the contrary.
This bad aspect/behaviour has prevented so far for Sage integration in Debian, and in certainly
other distribution. This is really a bad aspect because it affects the sharing of Sage among
the scientific community.
Second, I guess it is possible to distribute a stable version a Sage that targets a large audience,
and to distribute a testing one for the few. This will fix the problem arose, and I may help to convince
the other party to accept your patches or to figure out some consensus.

I am afraid that you artificially maintain a difference here. It is more a false excuse than anything else.
Please do not over play.

Thanks,
Jerome
