[Debian-sponsors-discuss] Kicking off conversation again.

As I mentioned, I incorporated the threads into a section in the wiki
called "unsorted from list". There are a lot of good ideas there that
we will be discussing and exploring over time.

However, I want to try an experiment and try to break this discussion
down into phases, before getting into implementation details. I am
proposing for the first phase we try to answer some fundamental
questions, which I put into the wiki and took a first stab at
answering:

1. Why do companies and individuals support Debian financially?
2. What problems are we trying to solve?
3. What are we doing and what more can we do to reward companies and
individuals that are supporting Debian?
4. Which existing Debian teams and initiatives should we include in
overall fundraising/donations/sponsorship?
5. What does Debian need donations/sponsorship for?
6. How do we decide how non-earmarked funds are spent? (Assuming
DebConf fundraising gets split between purpose-driven and general
fundraising efforts)

I will shortly follow up with 6 threads (one for each question) to
make it easier to converse and to track and record the discussions
back into the wiki. I ask that if people agree with this general
approach to keep the answers to the threads in question and try to
keep them on topic. (I know I started this whole thing with a big
laundry list email, and for that I apologize.)
