Ah, I was not aware of this (not being a Xerces-C user directly).

I will revisit this more closely and will try to figure why Pathan
(the XPath implementation which is using Xerces, AFAIK) is using
'inofficial APIs'. If that cannot be changed, I can still escalate
this back the chain.
