libxslt does not currently respect IEEE semantics on i386. However,
starting with GCC 4.5, there is an option called
-fexcess-precision=standard; this option is enabled by default with
-std=c99.
Vincent, can you test-build libxslt with GCC 4.5 using one of those
options and confirm if that fixes the breakage?
