Dear maintainer,
I suggest removing ldp-docbook-stylesheets from Debian for the following reasons:
* According to popcon
https://qa.debian.org/popcon.php?package=ldp-docbook-stylesheets
its usage decreased drastically
* It is obsolete and unmaintained upstream
* Superseded by modern DocBook XSL
* Redundant functionality
* There are better alternatives for custom styling
* There seems to be no active Debian Uploader (last activities
according to https://contributors.debian.org/contributor/ardo/
in 2011 (voting in 2024 is a known false positive on that page)
This bug serves as a pre-removal warning to discuss this removal first.
Currently there is one remaining Build-Depends which I reported
including a patch to pbuilder #1107349. (I will set some blockby.) So
we can't go on with the removal before Trixie is released an a fixed
pbuilder was uploaded. This leaves us more time to discuss the issue
in case I might be wrong with the removal suggestion.
Once we agree that the package should be removed, the bug will be
reassigned to ftp.debian.org to actually request removal of the package.
In case the package should be removed from unstable, you may reassign this
bug report:
Control: severity -1 normal
Control: retitle -1 RM: ldp-docbook-stylesheets -- RoM; obsolete, not maintained upstream
Control: reassign -1 ftp.debian.org
Control: affects -1 + src:ldp-docbook-stylesheets
In case you disagree with the above, please add a wontfix tag to this bug.
Control: tags -1 + wontfix
Your package was highlighted in the Bug of the Day[1] initiative, which
aims to introduce newcomers to manageable tasks and guide them through
the workflow to solve them. The focus of this initiative is on migrating
packages to Salsa, as it's a great way to familiarize newcomers with a
consistent Git-based workflow.
Kind regards
Andreas.
