For the amd64 machine (lspci output):
ATI Technologies Inc RV370 5B64 [FireGL V3100 (PCIE)]
Xorg driver: radeon

For the i386 machine (lspci output):
Intel Corporation Mobile 945GM/GMS, 943/940GML Express Integrated
Graphics Controller (rev 03)
Xorg driver: intel

Due to these very different video cards, I don't think it is a driver
issue, but I may be wrong.
