I decided to finally bite the bullet and use the upstream-suggested
directory layout. So we just copy data/ and scripts/ over to
/usr/share/pymol, set PYMOL_DATA, PYMOL_SCRIPTS and CHEMPY_DATA to the
appropriate subdirectories, and skip installing those (and
test/examples) from setup.py via 28_no_data_install_in_python_path. I
also fixed it up so it finds the splash screen finally again.
This makes it possible to drop most of the patches, and things seem
to still work according to my patches. I put up packages if somebody is
interested in trying them out:
