This problem nearly solved itself as the stride upstream authors agreed to
relicense it under the terms of the MIT license. I uploaded it to github with
the agreed license change:

Does any other software make use of protein secondary structure identification
through the stride algorithm? In that case it would make sense to create a
Debian package of it. Since it's now MIT it could even go into main.
