I agree that the latest version makes way more sense. However Ondrej
said in response to my initial mail that he would consider working on this task
which might need some more detailed knowledge about abinit than I have (mine is
defintely none). My intention was to bring some totally broken package to some
recent standard which is now reached in SVN to some extent. At least the package
builds reasonably, is conform with latest Standards-Version and uses the latest
packaging tools (debhelper 9; dh).

Since the package now rebuilds the binary packages currently inside the
archive and contains less bugs and less lintian warnings I'd like to
upload it as is now.
The only thing I would like to know from Ondrej is, how to deal with
#550410. ;-)
I would be available for sponsering newer versions of abinit if a
sponsor is needed.
