That message goes to stderr so it should not affect the execution.

The actual problem is that you are doing this:
ifeq (,$(filter $(DEB_HOST_ARCH),armel, i386))
and using a comma-separated list instead of a space-separated one,
which means the first item is “armel,” instead of “armel” and that
does not match.
